What should a baby wear to sleep at 19°C?
At 19°C (66°F), begin with your sleeping bag's clothing chart. Keep it handy while you choose the outfit, rather than trying to remember what an online table suggested. The bag you own matters more than a generic example.
Start with the bag you own
Use the bag's size, weight and clothing guide. The NHS lists 2.5 TOG for 16–20°C, with clothing adjusted to suit. The fit should keep the head from slipping inside; do not add other bedding.
Do I need a vest and a sleepsuit?
Check the manufacturer's chart for that exact bag. Do not automatically combine a vest, sleepsuit and sleeping bag just because a generic table lists them together. If the label and an online example differ, use the product's instructions and ask the manufacturer or your health visitor if anything is unclear.

Check your baby as well as the room
The Lullaby Trust recommends feeling the chest or back of the neck; cooler hands and feet are common. If the skin feels hot or sweaty, remove a layer. Keep the head uncovered for indoor sleep. A touch check helps you adjust clothing; it does not diagnose fever or illness.
Keep the sleep space simple
Place your baby on their back on a firm, flat mattress in their own clear cot or Moses basket. The NHS recommends sharing a room for the first six months. Keep pillows, cot bumpers, toys and loose bedding out.
Use tonight's room temperature
Enter the temperature where your baby sleeps, not the outdoor forecast or the number on a thermostat in another room. Keep the room thermometer easy to check. If you change the room, bag or clothes, reassess the combination rather than carrying yesterday's outfit forward automatically.
